I hope you all had a really lovely Christmas and made the most of any down time with family and friends. December saw a lot of highs for Yellow Polka Dot Bikini Blog and this was all the more exciting as it marked the blog’s first year anniversary. I set up Yellow Polka Dot Bikini when I was sick with pneumonia last December and what started as a fun hobby soon developed into something a lot bigger. While I still do the blog in my spare time for fun it has grown into something that I could never have anticipated. Of course this is all down to the support of my followers, so thank you all. With the dawning of the New Year I wanted to take a look back on 2016 and the growth of Yellow Polka Dot Bikini Blog. I hope you enjoy reading my top five moments.
Until next time,
In January, after a mere month of blogging I was picked as Cocoa Brown Blogger of the Week. Cocoa Brown shared a short interview with me all about the blog across their social media channels.
In April 2016 I was nominated as Best Newcomer in the Irish Blogger Association, Blogger Choice Awards. This was such a huge achievement as I had only been blogging 5 months. I attended the awards night in The Radisson Blu Hotel Dublin and got to meet bloggers from around the country that I had connected with through social media. It was a fantastic evening and it was there and then that I decided to go full throttle with the blog.
In November I had a photo from my Electric Picnic fashion shoot nominated and shortlisted in the Huawei Snapy awards and got to attend the prestigious awards night in the Mansion House Dublin.
Just before Christmas and the perfect way to end 2016 I got to do an interview with RTE Lifestyle. This was a very surreal moment and I still can’t believe that the interview is up there for all to see.
My number one moment for 2016 was being shortlisted for The Littlewoods Ireland Blog Awards in the Best Fashion Blog category. This was such a huge achievement and I am so grateful to everyone who voted for me and supported me throughout that competition. I did not expect to get nominated, I did not expect to get long-listed but to then make it through to the shortlist was unbelievable! It was at the shortlist stage that the voting came into play and when I started asking you all to vote. The response was incredible so thank you all so much!
As well as all of these highlights I got to collaborate with numerous brands throughout the year including; Clarins, NYX cosmetics, Roger and Gallet, Sunkiss Tan, Easilocks, Be or Knot to be, The Hidden Gem, Don’t Kill my Vibe, The Dublin Herbalists, Fabuloss Tea, Ultrapure Laboratories and The Irish Blogger Agency.
I have some exciting news coming up in 2017 including brands like Clarins and River Island so watch this space!
I have found blogging incredibly rewarding and am so happy that I chose to set up Yellow Polka Dot Bikini Blog. I have made new friends and connections as well as started to understand the hard work that goes into a blog. It takes up a lot of time and is most definitely not as easy as it looks. My motto for the blog is ‘Fashion is fun’ and I’ve said from the start that fashion and beauty should not be taken too seriously so just experiment and enjoy.
I would also like to thank my sisters, my mother, my father and my boyfriend for all of their photography skills throughout the year. (And their patience, mainly their patience!)
I look forward to developing the blog in 2017 and to your continued support. Be sure to add me on all my social media channels and get in touch as I love hearing from you.
