Clarins Contouring Perfection

There are brands that come and go: trends and fads, products you use religiously for a month but don’t re-purchase because it goes out of fashion to contour like this or strobe like that. Then there are brands that you fall in love with, brands that your grandmother used and are a household name. These brands do not rise and fall with the ever changing make up trends but invest time and energy into creating timeless products that work. Clarins is the latter – a brand that has been around for years and a brand that I have yet to find fault with. Known for its incredible skincare range Clarins have just launched their Contouring Perfection palette. They have not however jumped on the contour bandwagon but created a product that is their own! In fact they had contour products in their range long before it became fashionable to draw stripes on your face.

I was very kindly invited to the Dublin launch in Drury Buildings where I learned all about the products and also walked away with the most generous goody bag.

I hope you enjoy this post.

Until next time,

Christine

There is so much to love about this palette. First of all I loved the packaging which is a sleek gold colour. The palette also comes with a small angled contour brush which is great for creating the perfect contour. The palette has three shades, a beautiful biscuit brown for defining, a soft highlight and a pink blush.

I love a good contour but I hate the dirty black line that I often find is left behind when I use cream contours. (This may be a reflection on my application more than on the creams, I’ll admit.) The bronzer in this palette is light and easy to use, perfect for building up for a night out or for a more toned down daytime look. The highlight gives a natural finish and it is so good to see a blush included in a contour palette. This means one less item for me to carry in my make up bag.

€45, Available from Clarins counter at Brown Thomas.

In the the goodie bag I also received this gorgeous lipstick. It is number 32, Pink Cranberry from the Joli Rouge range. The lipstick comes in beautiful gold packaging. I am obsessed with this vibrant pink colour. I usually go for a matte lipstick and gloss in general terrifies me. I’m rarely seen without a latte in hand and glossy lipstick, in my experience, tends to come off. I’ve worn this lipstick for a week at work now and I’m really impressed.  The fact that the pink is not too intense means I get away with it fading slightly so I’m not constantly reapplying. The gloss doesn’t dry out my lips and the shine stays all day.

€23, Available from Clarins counter at Brown Thomas.

The palettes I received all have the same beautiful packaging and this eyeshadow palette will not be leaving my make up bag. It is basically a smoky eye without the hassle. The palette has everything you need including the brush and is super compact and perfect for your handbag.

Last but by no means least I received this mascara and eyebrow pencil. The mascara is the Wonder Perfect mascara. It is one of the nicest packaged mascaras I’ve ever seen and is also super long lasting. The pencil comes with a brush on top to help get your brows into perfect shape before application.

Brow pencil €20 and mascara €26. Available from Clarins counter at Brown Thomas.

Thanks again to Clarins for the wonderful night at Drury Buildings and for all of my lovely gifts.
